In commemoration of 555: A last ride

Saturday (24/11) marks the handing over of the ownership of 5-cube by mel. I know it must have been a tough decision to make.

I rode the bike over to the bike shop for him. There is no longer any HMF pipe, neither were there gixxer forks nor Brembo brakes. The bike was soft, tame but nontheless still as powerful. It all started with a stock condition bike, the same inconspicuous exhaust note as many other stock Hayabusas one the road. Much time, effort and money has been spent on the bike, I know I would be severely depressed if placed in the same situation.

The ride there was quick but unexciting. The power was there but has non of its previous character. The exhaust note was audible but not intimidating nor is it thrilling and exciting. Yes, you could ride around town with it all day and marvel at its fuel-economy for its engine capacity. But, NO!, the bike is not only about that. And having tasted the power its capable of, suddenly, the slow ride to the bikeshop turns made everything seem so dead and lifeless.

For the next owner, the pages of the 555's past glory will never be experienced, let the new owner write his/her adventures in the future of the bike. For the rider himself, the end of the old chapter only signifies the start of a newer and better future. Do not harp on the past comparing how it outshines some of the things you do now. But do enjoy the sweet memories the bike has brought for you. For now, treasure what you got and live life in the present not the past. =)

In memory of the rides we shared on the road together:
It all started as this in the beginning, everything as it is out of the crate.
The cumulation of effort on this bike over the last 2 years plus ends.
Overnight shopping trips to KL is quite an easy feat. The places we go to just for some fresh air and strawberries

The furthest up north the bike have seen.
Probably the lowest the bike has seen the tarmac.
